A multi-specialty healthcare company developed an implantable device for the treatment of chronic, severe migraines. The client remained uncertain about the product’s optimal use and primary patient population.  Additional data and insight were required to define the size and characteristics of the product’s target patient population.

Strategy

The Aequitas Group used actual physician practice data across the pain management market to determine and document target patient characteristics for the product.  In addition, The Aequitas Group conducted an extensive review of client’s clinical trial and post-market data to identify relevant clinical variables to identify payor targets and spur market uptake by assuring patient access.

Execution

Based on the results, The Aequitas Group determined specific factors that described the target patient population. The client utilized the clinical data to inform their access negotiation strategies with payors. The information also helped Medical Directors develop coverage and payment policies that supported the appropriate use of the device for the patients.
