Meta Analysis - HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)
Insight
A leading pharmaceutical company hired The Aequitas Group to assist in collecting data and providing a focused literature review and meta-analytic results, to document the impact of HIV patient treatment adherence on clinical indicators associated with the development of medication resistance (i.e., medication failure).
Strategy
A systematic literature review and meta-analysis was performed to document the relationship between treatment adherence to HIV regimens with both short and long-term clinical outcomes, including prevention of medication resistance. Results also established the predictive power of HIV treatment adherence in terms of prevention of breakthrough resistance. The data allowed the client to develop a case for the importance of assessing HIV treatment satisfaction in randomized, controlled, trial and outcomes research.
Execution
Results of the review and analysis were used by the client to strengthen the case for assessment of patient satisfaction and adherence with HIV treatment regimens, as well as predict market uptake/share for specific medications. The study was published in AIDS PATIENTS CARE and STDs journal.
